Past, Present and Future

The development of MIMS Academy has been phenomenal

 

  • 1. MIMS School of Nursing was started along with the start of the hospital and was housed in the MIMS Hospital premises itself.
  • 2. Nursing Assistant Course was started at the same time.
  • 3. MIMS College of Nursing started.
  • 4. School of Resuscitation was established for BLS, ACLS, PALS and ATLS
  • 5. MIMS Academy was recognized as a separate entity.
  • 6. Vocational courses were started
    • a. CSSD Technician’s course
    • b. MRD Technician’s course
    • c. Anesthesia Technician Course.
    • d. Perfusion Technology Course.
    • e. Dialysis Technician Course.
  • 7. Diploma of National Board of Examinations started in ENT, general Surgery and general medicine. Then extended to Anesthesia, Pediatrics, Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Family Medicine and Radiology. Applied for Nehrology. Intention for Urology and Orthopedics.
  • 8. DMLT course of Government of Kerala.
  • 9. Emergency Medicine Fellowship in collaboration with George Washington University. This is in the process of being upgraded into a 3 year course.
  • 10. Post Graduate Course in Medicine Entrance Examination coaching.
  • 11. MRCGP training Course in collaboration with Meduserve.
  • 12. BSc MLT course with affiliation to University of Calicut started.
  • 13. BSS recognized courses in Anesthesia Tech Course, Dialysis Nursing, Diploma in Hospital Administration, Nursing Assistant’s course.
  • 14. MSc Nursing approved and classes will commence soon.
  • Application for Pharmacy College and Dental College pending. The Nursing College and Nursing School were originally housed in leased premises. Academyhad purchased 4 acres of land in Palazhi for thee courses. But this was considered inadequate and some 32 acres were purchased in Karad ( The HILL). Nursing College was constructed there and the college was shifted. Nursing Hostel was completed and all girls were shifted to new hostel on the HILL Plan for a composite building for College of Allied health Sciences being prepared and will be submitted to Panchayat soon. The Academy was brought under the MIMS Academy Trust. In 2008, MIMS Research Foundation was established and has started workingin 5 areas, Medical Biology, Biochemistry and New Molecule Research, Clinical Research, Clinical Trials and Educational Research. Department of Science and Technology of Government of India has inspected the foundation and recognition is awaited. Also awaited is recognition by University of Kannur for PhD program. Drs Varma, George KA, Thampan and Assuma Beevi are recognized guides for PhD.

  • 4. College of Allied Sciences to bring Pharmacy, Laboratory Technology and Medical Informatics under its wing.
  • 5. Establishment of Animal Lab under the Research Foundation.
