MIMS is now a NABH Accredited Hospital
November 7, 2006

We are proud to announce that Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences Ltd. (MIMS) has been accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Healthcare providers (NABH).

NABH was constituted by the Quality Council of India, which is a quasi-government institution to oversee quality of services in various fields. There are several Boards for Accreditation under the Quality Council which have been in existence for decades and have contributed to improvement of services in different fields of activity. The Board for Healthcare Providers was constituted in 2005 to see that the health care provision in the country came to high standards. The board specified standards designed to improve the health care delivery in hospitals and cover the entire working of the hospitals. The Emphasis is on high quality patient care and customer satisfaction. The standards, the first edition of which has already been published numbers 503 in total and hospitals aspiring to be accredited have to comply with all standards. There is no doubt that a hospital which comply with all of these will be able to give high quality service to its customers.

MIMS Hospital applied for accreditation early and went about seriously to put in place systems and processes that will ensure high quality services as prescribed by NABH standards. The NABH assessors went minutely through the processes in the hospital and after full assessment, came to the conclusion that MIMS Hospital qualified for accreditation. We are proud that MIMS is the first multi specialty hospital in India to get NABH accreditation.

It is however easier to reach the height but to remain there is more difficult. MIMS Hospital realizes this and it will be our endeavor to see that we do not allow any let up in the quality, on the other hand strive to improve at every stage. It is hoped that the fact that NABH has started the process of accreditation will enthuse other hospitals to go through the same process that ultimately will result in what Quality Council wished, that is, raise hospital care in the country to the best possible standards.
